چکیده

The locus for the X-borne type of Charcot-Marie-Tooth muscular atrophy is not close to the Xg locus and probably not within direct measurable distance of it.

Linkage of scapuloperoneal spinal muscular atrophy to chromosome 12q24.1-q24.31.

Scapuloperoneal (SP) syndromes are heterogeneous neuromuscular disorders which are characterized by weakness in the distribution of shoulder girdle and peroneal muscles. SP syndromes can resemble facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSH) due to scapular weakness or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) due to atrophy of peroneal muscles. Both neurogenic and myopathic SP syndromes have been descr...

Autosomal dominant juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and distal hereditary motor neuronopathy with pyramidal tract signs: synonyms for the same disorder?

Autosomal dominant juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare disorder and so far only one family has been reported. Genetic linkage studies mapped the disease locus to chromosome 9q34 (ALS4). The diagnosis of ALS in this family is based on the clinical signs with almost exclusively lower motor neurone pathology in combination with less prominent pyramidal tract signs. Atypical feat...

Misclassification and linkage of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 1 as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, type 2B.

for these populations, we think that it is wiser to admit that the hypothesis of direct contact has not been adequately tested. Why is the B-lineage clade, a clade most common on the western coast of the Americas, not found in Beringia? Why does the B-lineage clade have lower sequence diversity and a different mismatch distribution than do the major A, C, and D clades (as well as others recentl...

A mutation in periaxin is responsible for CMT4F, an autosomal recessive form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease is a heterogeneous group of inherited peripheral motor and sensory neuropathies characterized by chronic distal weakness with progressive muscular atrophy and sensory loss in the distal extremities. Inheritance can be autosomal dominant, X-linked or autosomal recessive (ARCMT). Recently, a locus responsible for a demyelinating form of ARCMT disease, named CMT4F...

Distal hereditary motor neuropathy type II (distal HMN II): mapping of a locus to chromosome 12q24.

The distal hereditary motor neuropathy (distal HMN) or the spinal form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease is an exclusively motor disorder of the peripheral nervous system. The disorder clinically resembles the hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies (HMSN) type I and type II or CMT type 1 and type 2. Distal HMN might also be related to the spinal muscular atrophies (SMA) since, in both dis...
